I WAS interested to read Malcolm Taylor's letter in the September 6 issue regarding the approach of some fanciers who attempt to buy their way to the top. He is absolutely right in some of the points he makes. One of them is that buying good birds for top money doesn't always lead to success, either in the show hall or the breeding cage.
I have heard my share of storiescage floor the day after the new owner has installed them there. At the other end of the spectrum, I have heard stories of gifted birds breeding winners.
