PORT of Tyne’s role in receiving imports of wood biomass pellets for onward movement by train to Drax Power Station near Selby in North Yorkshire has been extended for a further four years.
Up to one million tonnes of pellets are expected to pass through the port annually as a result of the new deal, which includes £1.5 million of improvements to facilities and rail infrastructure.
