‘Amazing’ Scotsman visit

THE visit of‘A3’Pacific No. 60103 Flying Scotsman to the Bluebell Railway from August 23 to September 3 has been described as“truly amazing”by the line’s chairman.

The National Collectionowned 4-6-2 ran sell-out non-stop return trains from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead on regular services and special dining trains.

Footplate visits were also available as part of a static display event where the public could access the cab via the corridor tender and chat to loco crews about their experience of operating the engine.

Paul Churchman, who chairs both the Bluebell Railway plc and Bluebell Railway Preservation Society, said:“It was truly amazing and it also met the financial target we set. Everyone put on a fantastic event and our visitors loved it. I was there on all but two operating days and saw so many people.
