Most of us are used to using wide-angle lenses for genres such as landscape and architectural photography. But did you know that there are also ultra wide-angle lenses available? In this article, I’ll teach you all you need to know about ultra wide-angle lenses and how you can get the best out of them.

WHAT IS AN ULTRA WIDE-ANGLE LENS?

There’s some discussion around what constitutes an ultra wide-angle (ultrawide) lens but, in my opinion, it’s one that’s shorter than 16mm in focal length. Do note that a fisheye lens is not the same as an ultra wide-angle lens as these distort and curve the whole image
