Call for Treasury, Cogta to bail out struggling municipality

Cash-strapped

Cope Tshwane region says the city won’t be able to pay salaries beyond March 1, 2024, if the Treasury and Cogta (the Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department) do not intervene.

The party’s councillor, Ofentse Moalosi, said the city would run out of cash reserves to pay the salaries of its employees, including the councillors, before the end of March 2024.
