Underwater Photographer of the Year is an annual competition, based in the UK, that celebrates photography beneath the surface of oceans, lakes, rivers and even swimming pools.

From humble beginnings in Brighton in 1965, the competition has grown to attract thousands of entries from countries around the world. There are 13 categories, including Macro, Wide Angle, Behaviour and Wreck; as well as four categories for photos taken specifically in British waters.
