Gassed
In July 1918, celebrated US artist John Singer Sargent arrived at the Western Front. He was not there to fight, though. His job, as dictated by the British War Memorial Committee of the Ministry of Information, was that of war artist, commissioned with creating the central painting for a planned Hall of Remembrance for World War I.
