ORANGE AMPS ORANGE BOX-L

£315 / go.stuff.tv/BoxL

Orange’s debut guitar amp was brought to life in the back room of a London tobacconist. Today, the brand’s distinctive orange vinyl and basketweave cloth are instantly recognisable, with no shortage of rock legends having used Orange gear, from Jimmy Page to Jim Root. So releasing a Bluetooth speaker with the full glow-up is a risky move. Get it wrong, and it’ll be viewed as a mere costumed cash-grab.

Thankfully, this is far from the case. Available in black or orange (naturally we went for the classic choice), it really does feel like a proper Orange amp has met with a shrink ray. The build quality is superb: from the textured leather-like covering to the delightfully tactile grille, it’s a pleasure to hold. Of course, being a 4.3kg mains-powered speaker, it won’t be in your hands very often – but that’s not to say you won’t be interacting with your Box-L.
