Mother's mercy

Dressed in a taffeta wedding gown with billowing sleeves, Kathleen Donovan, then 20, was beaming from ear to ear.

Her husband-to-be, Craig Folbigg, then 26, wore a suit with a blue bow tie, and stood proudly beside her.

It was February 1987 and when the pair were pronounced husband and wife moments later, their family and friends cheered.
