At this point, we fully expect Persona 5 to become a never-ending standalone source of games of varying genres. Seven years after Persona 5 was originally released, Atlus still can’t let go of Joker and his friends. The next Persona-shaped offering, following the series’ 25th anniversary, is not Persona 6 but another P5 spinoff: Persona 5 Tactica. How about a Destinyland park builder next? A Café Leblanc management game, maybe? Nothing seems impossible at this point.
Persona 5 Tactica is a turn-based strategy game with a completely new story featuring the Phantom Thieves. Perhaps a strategy game isn’t as left-field a choice for the series as it may initially seem – Japan has seen a minor resurgence in turn-based tactics with the likes of DioField Chronicle and the Tactics Ogre rerelease. Not only that, but Atlus has previous experience with turn-based strategy.
