Believe it or not, the XM is only the second-ever BMW designed and developed as a standalone M model in this brand’s 45-year history. The first was the legendary M1 supercar from 1978.
This fact alone means that the XM was born amid an ocean of sky-high expectations – and not least from myself. For those who aren’t aware of BMW’s low-emission plans for the future, the XM also showcases technologies that the company is planning for the next generation of the M5 super-sedan.
Visually, the XM is styled boldly enough to deliver
