92.82% A new European Championships freestyle record

THIS was the showdown we had all been waiting for, and it blasted all our expectations for a thriller into orbit. The match between TSF Dalera BB's grace and Glamourdale's brawn has been the talk of the dressage world ever since the Lord Leatherdale stallion won world gold in Dalera's absence last summer. Now, finally, we had it.

Because so far in these championships, the touchpaper had not ignited. Glamourdale was hardly off form in the grand prix and special, finishing fourth and third, but - as Lottie Fry put it: “The first day he was fresh and distracted; the second, tired.”

But for the freestyle, he was “the compilation for 92.82%. And once again, bouncy young Imhotep popped up with Charlotte Dujardin, threatening to spoil the Glam-Dal party. They almost split the hyped-up rivals with an astonishing personal best in only the 10-year-old's third freestyle, but had to settle for a second bronze, on 91.4%.
