New data released by Statistics South Africa shows that the number of household crimes, such as housebreaking, home robbery and vehicle theft, have increased in the 12 months preceding the interview compared to 2021/22. Crimes experienced by individuals have also increased, except for consumer fraud and vehicle hijackings, which dropped in 2022/23.
