The drinks industry is in Charles Beamish’s blood: he is a descendent of the family behind Beamish & Crawford, producer of Beamish Genuine Irish Stout and once the largest brewing company in Ireland, and his cousin Michael Beamish was a leading figure in the resurrection of Tullibardine in the early 2000s.
Charles was born in Singapore and lived there for 14 years before his family moved to Aberdeenshire in 1998. His first career was in financial services, starting as an analyst and progressing into brokering before securing a director’s position at investment bank Panmure Gordon.
He and his wife then moved to Edinburgh and he was offered a job at investment management company Baillie Gifford. However, a chance meeting with Jonathan Driverhe put it,” he remembers. “Jonathan is a true ambassador for Scotch whisky.”
