On the eve of the first anniversary of his grandmother’s death, the Duke of Sussex paid tribute to Elizabeth II at a star-studded charity awards ceremony for courageous children and their carers.
Prince Harry praised the seriously ill youngsters who were honoured at the WellChild Awards, a year after missing the annual event to join his family at Balmoral.
He told guests: “As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away.
“As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist I come to be with you instead of going to her, and that’s why I know, exactly one year on, she is looking down on all of us tonight – happy we are together, continuing to spotlight such an incredible community.”
HELLO! once again joined forces with the Duke and WellChild at the inspiring ceremony, organised in association with GSK, which recognises the achievements and bravery of the winners and those who care for them.
Prince Harry, who has been patron of the national charity for severely ill children since 2007, flew in from California to spend time with them at London’s Hurlingham Club.
