Three million faulty smart meters installed in UK homes

The National Audit Office has discovered that three million faulty smart meters have been installed in homes across the UK, during what has been dubbed a “botched roll-out”. According to the NAO, almost one in 10 smart meters are not working as they should be. Research revealed that 37% of customers surveyed by Smart Energy GB, the company behind the nationwide roll-out, have reported issues with their system. Faults include inaccurate bills, blank display screens and meters failing to send energy use information to suppliers.
