Although I’ve hunted during the archery season for years, I’ve never considered myself an exclusive bowhunter. I simply love to hunt and partake in whatever season is open, be it bow, rifle, shotgun or muzzleloader. I guess it would be fair to say I’m dedicated more to hunting than any one specific method.
When crossbows became the big rage a few years back, I found myself intrigued. I had occasionally hunted with crossbows before, but that was when only a few states allowed their use during archery season, well before numerous other states jumped on the bandwagon. The bows back then could be called antiquated, heavy, and awkward, and were certainly not as user-friendly as often advertised compared to the newer models. To be honest, I was most curious to see how far the more modern versions had come in terms of improvements, but also hoped hunting with a crossbow would be easier and more enjoyable.
It’s been a decade or more since then and crossbows have continued to evolve and improve.
