Whatever's in the water at Maroochy River on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, the Cannon family kids have certainly been drinking from the fountain of motocross success.
Parents Wade and Taryn Cannon have bred three children that have fast taken aim on the upper echelons of Australian motocross racing. Daughter Charli and eldest son Jake are already knocking on the door of success at world championship level, while youngest brother Louis is also super-talented on a bike at an age when kids are figuring out where their life journey might lead them.
Since turning senior last year and joining the Yamalube Yamaha MX Racing team, Charli has dominated local WMX racing and has already taken aim on the next big chapter to come in her career: success in the WMX category of the MX GP world championships.
LAST YEAR I TICKED OFF ALL MY GOALS. I WAS UNDEFEATED IN WMX IN THE PROMX NATIONALS IN MY FIRST YEAR IN SENIORS.
Every step along the way, she's proudly serving as a role model for young female motocross riders across Australia and around the world.
Let's start at the start, Charli. Where did your dirtbike riding and racing journey begin?
When I was five years old and my brother Jake was four, my dad bought Jake a Pee Wee to ride around in the backyard. But then I jumped on it and I basically didn't want to get off it! So my parents had to get me a bike and it's all gone from there.
