Mending the Line

I first heard of in June of 2021. The writer, Stephen Camelio, emailed to say he’d written a screenplay “about a Marine injured in Afghanistan who comes to a V.A. hospital in Livingston, where he meets a damaged Vietnam vet who teaches him flyfishing.” (A “trauma drama” in film-industry parlance.) Camelio’s father was a Vietnam vet who died due to Agent Orange exposure forty years after he volunteered to serve. Camelio received a, but Logan Ro—I mean Brian Cox—plays an authentic crusty angler as Ike; Sinqua Walls is his charismatic self; and Wes Studi would fit right in at any fly shop. Mostly, this film tells an important story, all while showcasing the beauty of Montana.
