WALK THE WALK

ihuà, a fashion illustrator and educator, has always been drawn to the expressiveness of dynamism. With a background in classical Chinese calligraphy, her work, Lihuà set out to capture the elegance of the catwalk using a slanted composition and striking colour contrasts to direct the viewer’s gaze towards the models. Stepping back, one can almost imagine being part of the crowd seated in the back row, observing how the front row audience raises a sea of phones and cameras to record the show, rather than being fully present in the moment. Lihuà originally intended to depict the phones in brighter colours, aiming to prompt reflection on our increasing reliance on technology. However, she eventually opted for a more tongue-in-cheek approach, using subtler tones. serves as a subtle reminder of the need for balance in our technological age. It emphasises that moments of joy and wonderment are fleeting, making it all the more crucial for us to embrace them fully.
