SEVERN VALLEY CLASSIC

The old county of Salop is a rural paradise, and agriculture is a way of life. Collecting tractors is a popular hobby, and there are lots of old classics hidden away in local barns. Adrian Rickhuss from Shropshire was born and raised in the area and comes from a farming background.

“The family has been involved in agricultural contracting for many years,” he explained. “We also farm around 450 acres. The crops are mainly cereal, and it’s a full-time operation.”

Roots

Tractors are part of the landscape in the Severn Valley, and Adrian was involved with machinery from a young age. “The first tractor I drove as a kid was a Fordson Dexta,” he recalls. “Even though they belonged to an older generation, they were still very popular. I have been working with tractors since I left school and have driven lots of different makes over the years.”

Adrian left school in 1980, aged 16, and went to work on a local farm. “Coming from a rural background, farming was the obvious choice,” he said. “Back in those days, the government was
