■ If you’re a fan of Rare, odds are you own Rare Replay, a staggeringly good compilation designed by the studio to celebrate its first 30 years. Before the release of Digital Eclipse’s Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, we considered it the definitive retro compilation awarding it 10/10 in issue 146.

But how did come about? “I’ve always been a bit of a Rare history buff, but I’m not an expert by any means,” JT says. “After was released but before was announced I started going around the building and collecting what I now refer to as the Rare Archives, because there were so many different bits of history in different corners of the barns. We’d come off and were figuring out what to do next, but I got the OK from my manager to collect all this stuff together.”
