Apocalypse ? Could be soon, if you listen—which their neighbors premiered earlier this year in the U.K. and has been renewed for a second season. This is a rapturously funny satire of devout derangement, where a daughter’s (Amy James-Kelly) straight-A report card is greeted with a “Where did we go wrong?” by parents who’d rather their kids be proselytizing than studying. The greatest sin: the hideous bowl haircut worn by judgmental father David (’ Simon Bird), whose unholy ego makes him feel he deserves promotion to elder of their strict sect, the Order of the Divine Rod. If they keep passing him over, there’ll be hell to pay. But the more he suffers, and makes his family do penance with him, the more will feel heaven-sent.
