Welsh dragons secure TV breakthrough for Talyllyn

THE Talyllyn Railway has become the focal point of a new children’s television series produced inWelsh for S4C.

The concept sees train driver Cadi discover two young dragons hiding on the railway. An inquisitive and mischievous pair, Bledd and Cef are no computer-generated imagery but physical tactile puppets that have been lovingly crafted, giving them a very real on-screen presence.

A brainchild of the Welsh production company Yellow Barrels, the show, entitled Dreigiau Cadi (Cadi’s Dragons), has been devised by Phil Higginson and Manon Jones. They have both worked extensively in TV, but Phil has also volunteered in the TR’s locomotive department, so it made sense that when developing the concept, the world’s first volunteer-run railway would become the
