THE expansion of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone and introduction of similar schemes across the country has left lots of people facing the prospect of having to replace noncompliant cars, or pay to drive in their home area.
To be exempt, petrol-engined cars must comply with Euro 4 emissions regulations, which means anything registered from January 2006. The rules are different for diesel-engined cars, and they must comply with Euro 6 emission limits introduced in September 2015.
Some makers adopted Euro 4 or, which will tell you whether any potential purchase will be charged to enter any zones around the country.
