Ammonia-ready open-hatchers

Norwegian shipowner Grieg Maritime Group has ordered two ammonia-ready open-hatch bulk carriers from theEnergy Solutions’ B&W 5S60ME main engines and configured for the placement of tanks capable of holding 3,000m3 of ammonia on the deck straddling the accommodation block. The first of the 82,000dwt vessels is expected to be delivered in the spring of 2026, with the following, all to be classed by DNV and sail under the Norwegian NIS flag, to be handed over through the remainder of that year.
