after his unceremonious departure from Judas Priest, it’s fitting that K.K. Downing would stage his big comeback – and live debut for his new band – at his own venue. Openers set the tone, theirtriumphantNWOBHM-by-way-of-thrash stylings taking off like a 747, as they chuck epic covers of Dio’s and classical composition – with guitars, on a gangway in front of the stage, naturally – in amid energetic originals. Vocalist Craig Cairns declares, “We’re here to put Britishand come almost at double pace, Di’Anno howling with gusto to lend a punkier, more ferocious edge to even the likes of “You’ve made an old man very happy,” he says. “Sometimes touring is the only thing that keeps you going; you’ve kept me alive.”
