The Cabrach is a part of northeast Scotland that evokes a wonderful sense of nostalgia and belonging to those that know of it, and a look of blankness from the many, many more people who don’t.

For this hidden high parcel of land where Moray meets Aberdeenshire, feels like a land apart – I’m told that when the three roads in inevitably become inaccessible in harsh winters, it’s like being on an island.

And so, despite being just a few miles from Dufftown – the centre of Speyside whisky today – the chances are you’ve probably never heard of it.
