Preventers in heavy weather
It was with interest that I read the article ‘How to handle heavy weather’ in the July issue of Yachting Monthly. It was full of practical advice but I hope you don’t mind me giving some practical advice with regards to a ready-rigged preventer system.
In my opinion, preventers are essential to avoid serious damage caused by involuntary gybes, which in heavy weather can at times be hard to avoid, especially when running waves start to break.
