Unboxing impressions

The Scottish Region Class 40 had yet to be released in model form with the modifications undertaken by Haymarket depot in the 1960s to remove the train reporting discs from Nos. 40060-066. Consequently, it was with anticipation that the new Bachmann model of No. 40063 was unboxed to see what had been improved.

A very well presented representation of the class in BR blue livery with an excellent level of finish and detail was revealed. The bonnet fronts are applied as separate toolings to the otherwise one-piece bodyshell. They are neatly attached and have all the features of the small batch of modified Scottish Class 40s during their allocation to Haymarket during the 1970s.
