Watkins Family Racing

Based in the East Sussex market town of Wadhurst, the close-knit Watkins’ clan are well used to driving the 120-odd miles to Santa Pod Raceway in order to race the three American doorslammers that dad Neill, son Tom and daughter Amy regularly campaign along the 1320. Rugby player Tom was the first member of the family to be bitten by the racing bug after being a spectator at the home of British drag racing. He exhibited a mechanical bent right from an early age: “I learned to drive on the family farm (in a Subaru Justy) but from the time I was quite young I’ve been interested in anything with an engine,”

In later years he was particularly drawn to the Mopar marque, encouraged by American car enthusiast boss David Faircloth
