Sometimes, the wind and current are simply too much to fight. When this happens, a technique referred to by the pros as “drift fishing” is the most efficient way to fish an area. Allowing the wind or current to push you backwards as you fish an area can be a better option than killing your trolling motor batteries.

What Is Drift Fishing?

Simply put, drift fishing is a technique that can be used when the wind or current is too strong to hold the boat in one single place. By pointing the boat directly into the current, anglers should allow the current to push them back while keeping the boat at a slow speed.
