THE bronze-winged duck (Speculanas specularis) is also sometimes called the spectacled duck due to the large white patches these birds have below their eyes. However, that name can then cause confusion with the spectacled eider (Somateria fischeri). Somateria spectabilis Bronze-winged ducks also have a striking white “dog collar” around the throat.
