Ah, youth! It is not wasted on the young in these half-dozen films of kindling passions, forbidden romance and overwrought teens on the cusp of adulthood. (The theme continues Fridays throughout September.) First up: kids teaching cynical adults a thing or two about love in 1979’s . An enchanting Laurence Olivier helps guide (10/9c), followed by Hollywood’s classic melodrama about the agonies of adolescent repression in the late 1920s, (1961, midnight/11c). As star-crossed lovers, Natalie Wood’s Deanie and (in the actor’s first film) Warren Beatty’s Bud (below) are indelible.
