The Broons has appeared in The Sunday Post newspaper since 1936 and follows the lives of a large Scottish family called the Browns. They live in a tenement flat at 10 Glebe Street in the fictional Scottish town of Auchenshoogle. I enjoyed the cartoon, which I always preferred to Oor Wullie in the same paper.
I'm not building a tenement this month, though. The Broons own a small holiday cottage, or But'n'Ben, and often go there for the weekend.
The moment the nice people at Petite Properties handed me their latest kit, “The Croft”, I was reminded of the cartoon. But'n'Ben's were common in Scotland, so it's not a daft connection. This one is slightly grander
