ONE of the most rewarding aspects of Slowdive’s unlikely renaissance has been watching the band take great pleasure playing to enormous crowds at festivals, something they never got the chance to do during their first time around. It’s not just that, right from the start, their panoramic music has always seemed designed for the grand occasion, there’s also simply a lot of joy to be had witnessing thousands of fans experience this intensely intimate music loud and live for the first time – especially when most assumed they’d never get to hear these songs performed in the flesh by the original lineup.
