Stadium deal
Pietermaritzburg residents are concerned about the unveiling of the Harry Gwala Stadium as the official new home of Royal AM, a football club owned by businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize, the daughter of late political activist Florence Mkhize.
Despite objections, the city went ahead and sealed a R27 million deal which will see the club receiving R9m over a period of three years, which includes the use of the stadium.
Residents have vowed to challenge the city
