OF the numerous start-ups aiming for your attention in the electric-vehicle space, Fisker is different. This, after all, is a car company that doesn’t build cars. As with Apple, Fisker gets other people to make its products; in the case of the new Ocean, it’s contract manufacturing firm Magna. And the next model, the Pear, will actually be made by Foxconn, which produces many of the world’s iPhones.

Magna builds the Ocean in a ‘carbon netzero plant’, while the thinking that’s gone into every element of design and production to ensure every element of the car – and the company’s suppliers – are as sustainable as possible is impressive. This is truly a vegan-friendly car; leather isn’t an option.
