SAVING GRACE

Jackie and David Sneddon’s substantial Monmouthshire farmhouse was once home to the chief steward of nearby Raglan Castle. When newly built, the property would have been considered modern, well-appointed and highly-desirable, but the ensuing three centuries had not been kind. ‘It was in such a poor state when we first viewed it,’ says Jackie. ‘It was damp, decrepit, unmodernised and infested with vermin and pests. On the upside, it was in a gloriously peaceful position, and had so much potential.’
