Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is the best-preserved First World War airfield in the UK, with many listed buildings and replica aircraft

Located deep in rural Essex, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is an historic airfield that was used by the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and fledgling Royal Air Force (RAF) during the First World War. Originally opened in 1916 as the home of B Flight, 37 Squadron, RFC, the aerodrome saw the birth of air defence in Britain as it responded to German Zeppelin and Gotha bomber raids on London and southeast England.
