One out, one in: Foxcote Manor stopped as Betton Grange first steaming imminent

THE 25-yearprojecttoplugamajor gapintheUK’sheritagefleetwiththe constructionofanewGWRGrange4-6-0 isnearingaconclusion– withitsfirst steamingpencilled inforNovember.

With the last of the pipework and cleating sheets fitted to No. 6880 Betton Grange at Tyseley Locomotive Works in late July and early August, plans are now in hand to couple the locomotive to its temporary tender, a 4000-gallon Collett example currently on hire, and get both into the paintshops for finishing in lined Brunswick green with later BR crest.

The private first steaming for Betton Grange Society members and supporters will be held behind closed doors at Tyseley
