POLAR bears are uniquely adapted to the freezing temperatures of their habitat, the Arctic, where the average temperature is 9°C. In winter it can drop to below 40°C, while in summer it can reach a high of 10°C. Climate change is having a negative impact on polar bears because the ice they depend on is melting.
