SEBASTIAN BRUNO Documentary photographer whose new photo book The Dynamic is on sale now sebastianbruno.com

The internet age may have hastened the decline of the local newspaper but for a short while, The Abertillery Dynamic, an independent freesheet published in the town of Abertillery in the Ebbw valley of south Wales, bucked the trend.

Started in 2015, against a backdrop of economic austerity, fake news and the febrile politics around the Brexit referendum, offered a distinctive take on local affairs, with full-page pub reviews and ‘Sheep of the Week’ becoming regular features. However, in 2017, the paper’s financing ran out and it folded. Argentina-born Sebastian Bruno has, a book of photos from his time working with the co-founders of the newspaper, Tony Flatman and Julian Meek. We caught up with Bruno, who also lectures in film at the University of South Wales in Newport, to discover more about the paper.
