GRAHAM'S TOP TIPS

• Draw out a good composition thinking about large and small shapes, and making • Shadows on buildings are a very useful tool for giving the painting interest and balance. • Mix colours lightly letting the individual colours in the mix hold onto their integrity. • Decide on your colour palette before putting brush to paper. • Don’t get bogged down with detail. Try using a large mop brush for as much of the painting as possible. • When painting figures in an urban scene, try to keep head heights the same regardless of how near or far away they are. Size, not height, defines distance. • When you find yourself starting to fiddle with your painting, stop. It’s finished! • Enjoy creating. Mistakes can’t be made. It’s your painting.
