Summer jerseys

The summer months are cherished by most cyclists. Even the vagaries of the British weather usually allow for some genuinely warm and rain-free days, which when paired with the extended daylight hours can add up to some truly enjoyable rides. One of the obvious benefits of rising temperatures is the need for less clothing. Wearing just a short-sleeve jersey and a pair of bibs feels freer and perhaps even allows you to ride a little faster.

But what makes for a good summer jersey? For some it will be something equipped for a long, hot day in the saddle, comfortable against the skin with UV protection and ample storage for snacks, tools and the like. For others, aerodynamics matter most, with a race-fit required to help save watts. And then there’s the material itself, with sustainability as high on some cyclists’ must-have lists as breathability.
