A crack at the woodies

make no apology for the rather simple subject matter of my article this week, for I know that there are hundreds of our readers whose day is made if they can bring home a couple of pigeons for the larder. Owing to a badly cut foot, Don has been on the sick list for three weeks, and though the wound has now closed up and the dog hardly limps at all, I thought he should risk only a quiet morning out with the gun, just to cheer him up. Thus I decided to walk a mile or so to a tree-lined lane, among the oaks of which there are always odd pigeons to be found almost throughout the day.
