1 So, are these Eastman or Bourgeois guitars?
A hybrid of both. The tops of the guitars are made in Dana Bourgeois’ Maine workshops by him and his team and then sent to Eastman’s facility in China where specially trained luthiers affix the tops to the bodies.
2 What is Dana Bourgeois’ involvement here?
The choice of timber, tap-testing, tone-shaping and bracing patterning are all done to Dana’s specific design. The team in China has been “trained in Dana Bourgeois’ time-honoured building techniques”. Hence the guitars bearing the Bourgeois name.
3 Will there be any more models forthcoming from the Eastman/ Bourgeois alliance?
Yes, there are new models planned for release in the coming months. So far we’ve heard of the Country Boy dreadnought and OM, which Dana expands upon in our interview on page 100.
