TESTING of Transport for Wales (TfW) Class 398 tram-trains began on the Welsh Valleys between Taff’s Well and Radyr on June 16.
Two sets, Nos. 398008/009, were used initially, using both battery and overhead line electrification power. GB Railfreight is undertaking the initial testing.
Stadler is building 36 three-car Class 398s for the Core Valley Lines (CVL) element of the South Wales Metro project, with the first tram-trains due to enter traffic next year.
