WEST Coast Railways (WCR) has been given a three-month exemption extension by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) to continue operating Mk.1s on the national network.
The regulator had wanted all operators using Mk.1s to provide a fitment plan for door locking systems. ORR had provided exemptions for companies that had provided plans, but WCR did not provide one, and so was originally given a deadline of June 30.
