THERE was a nice surprise for Peter Watts, founder of Pathfinder Tours on June 23, when, unknown to him, colleagues and friends had managed to get him and his family to Gloucester station to unveil a nameplate and plaque on GB Railfreight No. 69006.
It had taken eight months of planning and was masterminded by Jack Boskett, photographer and press officer for Pathfinder Tours, the most difficult challenge being to keep the event from becoming known in the public domain, so difficult in an era where social media and instant knowledge is circulated.
Mark Hopwood, Great Western Railway were stabled in Platform 4. Even getting them there without the real reason being known was part of the elaborate scheme to keep Peter Watts in the dark.
